My interest in teaching started in 2010 when I was hired to train a group of small business owners in the Business Opportunity and Workforce Development (BOWD) program in Dover, Delaware. It was also my first opportunity to create a business and technology curriculum, which included eight hours of classroom instruction, written content and Microsoft Office training.

Later that year, I began doing volunteer work for the former Delaware Economic Development Office, which provided more opportunities develop my presentation skills. In 2011, I started teaching classes as a contractor for their Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac program, which is one of the largest providers of entrepreneurship education in the United States.

In 2012, I earned a Master of Science degree in Financial Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Shortly after graduation, I was hired to teach a Technology and Information Management class at the Wilmington University Graduate Center in New Castle, Delaware. This was my first opportunity to create a blending learning curriculum, which consisted of written content and access to online video instruction for Microsoft Office. Doing this helped overcome the challenge of teaching students with different levels of computer experience.

In 2018, I was hired by the Wilmington University College of Technology to teach the Excel in Business Problem Solving class (CTA 326) at the New Castle campus. Since then, I have taught several other classes and continued to use a blended learning methodology. I have found that many students in the College of Technology feel intimidated by technology because of their lack of experience with it. To address this, I created new collections of Microsoft Office video tutorials and study guides to help them focus on specific topics that they need to learn to complete assignments.
